GUARD :: Girard United Against Ruinous Dumping - Stop The Landfill in Girard Ohio, Stop The Dump!



		GUARD is a group of residents and civic leaders from Girard, Ohio. Our mission is to keep potentially hazardous landfills OUT of our communites -- starting with the one proposed by LAS Recycling, which would be located in the very heart of our town! The proposed landfill would be located about a quarter of a mile from the Squaw Creek housing development and just 190 feet from the Mahoning River. GUARD has been working with Girard city officials, the Board of Health and various other constituencies to oppose and prevent this development. This is our neighborhood; this is the air we breathe and the water we drink. We believe it's not too much to ask that the place where we live and work – the environment in which our children play – remain safe, secure and toxic-free.
